Even for those who know little about dance, Merce Cunningham is a recognizable name - an iconic figure in his field. His mid-20th century collaborations with composer John Cage (his lifelong partner) and visual artist Robert Rauschenberg were central to an era of transformation. Cunningham resisted "avant-garde" or any other label. "I don't describe it. I do it," he once said. Now, with Cunningham, we have a chance to experience what he did. Filmmaker Alla Kovgan assembles the last generation of Cunningham dancers (led by Merce Cunningham Dance Company assistant director of choreography Jennifer Goggans) to present landmark works from the Cunningham repertoire. The film concentrates on the three decades from 1942 to 1972 when Cunningham was making his reputation. Gorgeously shot in 3D, Cunningham brings us closer to these works than any audience has ever been before. Taking an inventive approach with locations, the film places dancers in evocative backdrops such as a tunnel, a high-rise rooftop, and a forest. These current-day performances are interlaced with archival footage of Cunningham speaking and moving. We also hear illuminating interviews with Cage, Rauschenberg, and members of the original Merce Cunningham Dance Company, who endured years of rejection and outrage before they slowly won over audiences. I felt tired and sleepy all the time. I woke up every day exhausted. Get up from the bad was extremely difficult. Every day I had to fight fiercely to leave my lovely and comfortable bed. I’ve always known sleep is extremely important. “To promote optimal health and well-being, adults aged 18-60 years are recommended to sleep at least 7 hours each night (1). Sleeping <7 hours per night is associated with increased risk for obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, stroke, frequent mental distress, and all-cause mortality (2-4). I wanted to be like them. I loved the idea of having more hours available. I was using them as an excuse to sleep less. After years I have understood that my reality is different. I need more hours to get fully rested. Living out of fact was only making my results worse. Accepted I’m not one of them, how can I start to sleep better? When I had problems sleeping, I look for the answer on google. It appeared a lot of articles with almost the same content ^7 - sleep 7 hours or much - go to bed and wake up at the same hour - do sport - No phones, pc, tv,... before bed - etc Some doubts start to rise. About sleeping routine. How can I sleep 8 hours, go to bed and wake up at the same hour, if I need to go to uni early and go to bed late while having a bit of social life? The only solution comes out in my mind is to hang out with my grandma and her friends. About sport. What sport? Running? Boring Gym? Boring Football? Bad at it Soccer? Basketball? Worse than football An excuse pops up for every sport. But also if there is a sport that I enjoy, who has the time? About electronic devices If I lay down in bed without anything to do, my mind starts to think about any possible problems in my life, anxiety increase and I can’t sleep. I need something that let me don’t think about my problems to fall asleep. A possible solution There are a lot of variables that influence sleep. Influencing these variables, you will influence your emotions, and so your actions in the long term. Your actions will influence your results. “It is important to realize that emotions guide almost all our actions and decisions in life. ” (Karin Roelof, Professor - Behavioural Science Institute, Radboud Universiteit) ^8 Today I have a sleep routine that is close to what articles are usually saying. But it would have been impossible starting from there. So I will give you another option, backed by science. Think of this as a starting point, like a snowball that is beginning to get down from the mountain. You don't have to influence all variables now; you can gradually alter them. It will be much easier than doing all at once. And without realizing it, the snowball will start to become faster and faster. 1. set the alarm to stop studying I realized I need time to come back home, eat and have some rest time. This time is almost impossible to compress. So if I put an alarm that said to stop studying, then I can have the time for doing what I need to feel good. If I don't do this, I will eat dinner late, go to bed late and wake up late. 2. put an alarm when going to bed I set this alarm to remember then when it rings everything has to be stopped. I set this alarm 15 minutes before the target time because usually, I need to finish what I'm doing. Point 1 and 2 are functional to the first step “Stick to a consistent sleep schedule and routine” ^9 3. don't watch series or make any addictive things in bed. (sex excluded) I often watch a series before going to bed, but not in bed! I make a warm milk after the series to contrast the bad feeling. I drink it in bed, and it makes me relaxed. () ^10 4. How to stop your mind from thinking, and feel relaxed? I use documentaries. I look for one I like, but that is not too interesting. Usually, they are free from problems and gives me the possibility to think about nature, which is relaxing for the brain. Nature Documentaries And Being Outdoors May Provide Similar Mental Health Benefits, Study Says () ^11 Remember to use night mode like those provided by Flux or Windows 10. 5. Put an automatic stop timer to stop the documentaries. Usually, I find 36 minutes perfectly to get asleep with the documentaries but without realizing that it finishes. If I don't' put this stop timer, I will wake up later in the night and I will difficult to sleep again. What if after an hour you are still awake? This simple guide can’t help you. Look for another solution or consider to talk with a specialist. 6. Get up late “Find more energy, not more time” Connor Swenson, from the Partnerships team at Google for Entrepreneurs. ” () ^12 Do you think is better to work 5 hours with a relaxed mind or work 7 with an exhausted mind? “Making a small number of key decisions well is more important than making a large number of decisions. If you shortchange your sleep, you might get a couple of extra 'productive' hours, but that productivity might be an illusion. " (Jeff Bezos, ) ^13 If you don't have enough time to get your mind relaxed and to study enough, there is a problem with your weekly plan. Here’s a great guide to create a weekly plan Warning! If you have lessons in the morning be aware of this: Going to the teaching entirely exhausted will be useless but, not going to the lesson and then not studying day by day will be worse than going to the lesson exhausted. Why? You will probably delay the study of this lesson. In the end, you will be near to the exam date without even know what the subject talks about. And as you may know, it is not a good situation. Do this only if you know that you will study day by day the subject. It is useful to use notes of your friends or use professor videos. - Great to see a film about dancing! A relatively unexplored sub-genre of documentary, and Cunningham was welcome for this alone. It adds to a hole that I suppose Wenders' Pina opened.
- On that note, this film should not have been shot in 3d, which added nothing but nausia. We expect the 3d was entirely for the purpose of (a) copying Pina and, relatedly, b) getting funding. But Cunningham's dances are far less spectacular and their presentation here likewise. The 3d only distracts from the movement in all but one Warhol-involved set, especially when edited with 2d archival.
- First half entertaining, second boring. The film progresses at a monotonous pace: one thing happens and then another and then another. No real conflict or tension.
Which is a problem. Because there evidently was plenty of this, but only in reality. The movie, on the other hand, brushes past unconvincingly. No one in the film is given space apart from Cunningham - everyone else speaks to convince the audience how great he is. I wanted to hear from one of his female dancers honestly, in long form, of the darkness of Cunningham. This would help to flesh out his character, give us something to chew on, and organise the film into a narrative. As is, we grew progressively distrusting and disengaged with the Greatest Hits/ Victory Lap tone, before the film ends suddenly with the news that all his dancers left.
- Ultimately we were left unconvinced that Cunningham (the dancer) was all that interesting. Fashionable certainly, he's attached to the right people, and I'm sure it would be great to be dancing as him, but the just-over-half-full prime-time-at-the-festival cinema was an endless circuit of yawns.

These are both set in the same universe but Squadron 42 is the single player story, while Star Citizen is the Online Persistant Universe. Currently Star Citizen is playable as a early alpha access for all backers, with the look and feel of the final game. Altough it is worth noting that the game is still missing many key features, but more on that later. The release date for Star Citizen or Squadron 42 are still unknown. Or as Chris Roberts would say "Soon™". However Squadron 42 is nearing completion and will likely release next year, although this is really hard to say. What is Star Citizen going to be? So first a disclaimer, if you want to know what is in the game at the moment, please look at the playing the game part below. This part is about the future of star citizen, some of it close but most of these things will be added in a far later stage (more than a year from today). Star Citizen is set in a persistant universe, this means that every action will have a lasting impact on the whole system. Within this universe it is possible to do one of many professions. Which include: Cargo Trading Mining/ extracting resources Engineering Piracy Escorting Information gathering/sending Managing an organisation Farming The beauty of this game is the freedom to do what you want to do and not be bound to some qeust line. You make up your own story and find what interests you the most. Whether this would be hauling cargo in your space truck. Or fighting pirates. Or anything else. Let me give you some examples: Commerce The way the universe works is quite realistic and simple. When you want to buy a ship it has to be produced in a factory somewhere. this factory will need resources that need to be mined, refined and hauled to that factory. Pirates might also be interested in that cargo and want to steal it, this gives jobes to escorts and bounty hunters. Therefor making a dynamic system of demand and request. Exploration You can also explore an asteroid field to survey the amount of rare elements in a piece of space rock. This information is valuable for a mining company and can be sold, or stolen. You can also explore planets on the frontier, and maybe get some place named after you! What is Sqaudron 42 going to be? In squadron 42 you play as a new recruit on the Idris Frigate. It is set in the Star Citizen Universe and will feature some of the planets and star systems. The cast consists of many A-level actors including: Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill and Liam Cunningham to name a few. These actors have been recreated in the game using live action tracking, which doesnt just bring the voice and face of a person in. This allowes for every movement of the actor to be seen in the game. The whole story will be spread over three seperate games, of which the first can be purchased next to a regular game package. It is likely that all three games will be from the same character/story. Playing the game, What can you do right now? Once you have an account (check Getting started for more information about getting your account)you will need to download the game. The file is just under 30 GB of data, so make sure you have enought space. In the game you have access to a few options. You can go to your hanger if you have any ships, you will only be able to see them and walk around in them, but you can't fly them from here. You can also go for a walk around ArcCorp area 18 in the Crusader system, here you will find many shops that show or sell in game items such as weapons and clothing. Or you might be interested in visiting Port Olisar in the Crusader System. Here you can take your spaceship out for a flight in the universe and explore the vastness of space. This is the first look into the persistant universe and here you can do missions. Lastly there is Arena Commender, which you can access using the simpod in the hanger of from the main menu. in Arena Commander you can fight waves of Vanduul (Alien baddies) or test your speed in the race maps. Getting started So you want to get in, how do you do this? First you need to sign up for a account, this is free. Then you need to get a game package that includes star citizen and you are good to go. Many have asked wether or not they need to have a ship to play. No, the game package is all you need. Buying a ship is a donation to make the game better, and you will be able to get every single ship in the game once is will be released. This means that even the huge Bengal Carrier can be obtained in the PU. It is possible to get aditional in game currency when using a referral code, i highly recommend using the code randomizer from this subreddit. At the moment is is possible to fly every ship, This will last until October 17th, so hurry up! Getting settled Once you have started a live in the star citizen universe you can join a organisation.
