Nice Job, Thanks for taking time out of your hustle to share some Gold. Keep Pushing.
I worked retail for two years in college, never in a bookstore but this was still relatable haha.

Caleb. When you were talking about those crazy high ranked books, I ran into one where there were 3 sellers listed at 99.00 and higher, so for a buy cost of only 1.00 I took a shot at it. It was 18 Million Ranked and I priced it at 49.95 Like New. I sent it in, won the buy box and the book sold one day after the listing went live. Pretty crazy. Thanks for SCOUT IQ. I've doubled if not tripled my profits and efficiency since I jumped on your application the last few months. I love it, wouldn't be where I'm at if I didn't have it. Thanks for everything.
Best two minutes of trailer I've seen this year.

Absolutely loved watching this, Ariel! Lovely cinematography and editing. Such an interesting little store, too. I've never seen an antique/crystal/book store, but it works! It's so important to go and support local indies, especially the more niche ones. 😊.

So much cringe in this trailer. I will not be seeing this.
Great use of hacking, in my view. All these high powered wealthy scumbags need to be held accountable.

A little over a month ago, I went to Made in Asia in Brussels and had the opportunity to get some Radiant volumes signed by Tony Valente. I asked fans to give me some questions for him, and here is the result! Q: What color are Luppa’s hair and clothes? Tony: I haven’t chosen yet! But she’ll be on the cover for volume 12, so it will be determined soon enough. By the way, Boadicée was first supposed to be a redhead! I wanted her to have long hair like an animal pelt down her back, but when time came to color it, I couldn’t get a satisfying result, and that’s how she ended up with blue hair! Q: Is the Mesnie’s sorceress’ pot a reminder of the Croque-Mitaine’s [French boogeyman] wicker basket where he puts little children, since he is the avatar of the Mesnie Hellequin [French equivalent of the Wild Hunt]? Tony: Actually, no! I knew about the Mesnie Hellequin, but I didn’t know he was part of it. Q: Congrats on making her look absolutely terrifying, by the way. Tony: I realized that all my sorcerer characters until now were all prim and proper, and with the richness of the European folklore, I knew I could draw on it to create something really creepy. Q: Online booksellers are predicting a release on the 5th of July for volume 12 and the third box set, are they accurate? Tony: It’s the date that’s planned for now. Q: When I read Ininna’s name, I immediately thought of Inanna, the other name of the goddess Ishtar. So I looked up Sargon, and I discovered Sargon of Akkad, a mesopotamian king whose legend is linked to Inanna. Did you draw inspiration from them for the Sargon and Ininna of Radiant? Tony: Indeed, it was deliberate! Actually, Sargon started out as an old, cliché merchant character, the type you’ve seen a hundred times. But then I tried darkening his skin, and all of a sudden he looked like this badass Pakistani guy, and I continued on from there. Q: We’ve learned in vol. 11 that Bôme’s Inquisition displays the captured Nemesis as a show of force to prove that they don’t need sorcerers to deal with them, and Sargon comments that he cannot imagine the cost in human lives of this maneuver. Which means that statistically, some Inquisitors must end up infected after fighting a Nemesis, right? What happens to them, then? Tony: It indeed happens, and, well, ‘stuff’ happens to them. Given the Inquisition’s “control the infected” policy, infected members risk losing their rank and place. This is actually a topic that will be touched on in the story, regarding why Piodon has a place by Torque’s side, if he is the only one, and shedding light on a relationship between the Inquisition and the infected that we haven’t seen yet. Q: Since discrimination is one of Radiant’s topics, one of your readers wanted to know if there would be LGBT characters in the manga? Tony: This is something I want to do! First I thought about exploring the topic through an existing character, but then I realized I lacked knowledge, and I didn’t want to go about it in a wrong way so I decided to abstain for now and broach the topic with a new character, since the old one wasn’t fleshed out enough. I’ve been reading up on the subject and this future character is dear to my heart, but if I feel that I won’t be able to write about this correctly, I’d rather not do it. For example, I’ve read that many Asian-American authors complained that their only representation in movies was through “exotic” and “sexy” asian women, and that it did more harm than good. We had the same thing in France with black actresses who protested against the fact that they could only get roles if the character was explicitly written as black. And actually, when Ocoho was introduced in Radiant, I first thought I had to justify her skin color before changing my mind. Q: What about Von Teppes, is he still among the living? The anime says yes, but your answer in the Q&A for vol. 11 is tearing the fans apart: some feel like your “yes” was a confirmation, other saw it as you sidestepping the question. Tony: I was sidestepping the question! But in the end, the anime is canon on that point. Q: Will we see other places in the Pharenos? A: At first I thought not, but now that I’ve introduced Sargon and Ininna, I really want to show the Great South! It’s a bit unlikely, but not impossible. Q: By the way, the admins from the Radiantiseurs say hello, and congrats for the second season! Tony: Thanks! Regarding season 2, the studio is going to follow the manga to a T, and if they expand on some things, we’re really going to work together. Q: Why are Domitors in Bôme? That’s like committing a crime in front of a police station! Tony: Why are terrorists in Paris? Because that’s where the symbolic places of power they’re targeting are, and because it’s also where their networks and infiltrated allies are. By the way, Bôme is a bit like the Vatican, in the sense that it’s like a headquarters but there are “sub-HQs” scattered around that enforce the rules in the way they want. Q: Will we know more about the Patrem Inquisitor’s story? A: You will learn more during Bôme’s arc! Q: What was Sagramor’s infection? Tony: Sagramor’s infection was the opposite of Mordred’s: in the Arthurian legend, he was described as having terrible fits of anger that sometimes left him close to death. So my Sagramor was always under sedatives to avoid this, which explains why he was always so stony-faced. Q: How old was Doc when he was infected? // Is Ullmina married, and does that make her the Queen of Convictis since Verone is the Prince? // Did Santori survive Seth’s Pulsar at point-blank range? Tony: Sorry, I can’t answer! Q: Why did Seth have bark growing on his arms and plants sprouting in his footsteps when he carried Myr’s kids’ bubble? Tony: As he carried them, he was tapping in an incredible amount of power. Q: Do you plan on returning to conventions in English-speaking countries? Tony: Maybe in the United States? Viz mentioned New York Comic Con, but I haven’t heard back about it. Q: Can the Japanese decide to create merchandise on their own, or do they need Ankama’s authorization? Tony: They normally need to ask Ankama, but they didn’t regarding the Light Novel adaptation, for example. We learned about it when it was announced. Q: Is there a reason why Ocoho is so powerful when it come to the Gysoni? Tony: No, and it might not be explained in further details, but she’s a very open and attentive person. Maybe we’ll learn more about it, just like Doc and Pen Draig’s armor.
