Hi all, I've compiled some comments from Portuguese people on r/soccer talking about Bruno and thought it was worth posting here to help us get a better idea of the player he is. The comments were found on various threads going back a year or so. You'll probably notice that most of them are extremely positive but I didn't make any effort to leave out negative opinions on him, they just weren't really there. Bear in mind some of the comments are replies to others so are potentially missing a little bit of context. I've used these brackets - [] on a few comments to make things a bit clearer. And please forgive the formatting if it's shit, I'm on mobile /u/itsrmv - He is a God. One of the best players to play in our league in the last years. He's 100% responsible for where we currently stand in the League and for us to be in the Cup final. It will be nearly impossible to keep him here for one more season, but fuck, I would love to see him stay... /u/HFDC99 - I can't wait for him to leave so that I can stop pretending he isn't a phenomenal player and easily the best player in the league /u/LusoAustralian - I don't know what Mezz'ala is but he isn't a CAM. He does too much in recovering the ball, ticking over possession, securing the ball and other midfield tasks that are not flashy enough for 10s. He's pretty decent defensively, not his strongest point, but he puts on pressure and isn't afraid to do what's necessary in defence. So I'd say a complete center midfield who can really control the middle of the pitch with a great amount of individual skills that are so vital in his goals and assists. Dribbling, vision, passing, intelligence, etc. are all things he has. /u/KneeDeepInTheDead - Its hard to tell how players will do in another league. Id think hed do well, but I also thought Jimenez wouldnt be much but hes been crucial at Wolves. Same with Pereira in Leicester, I thought he would be out of his depth but hes proven to be good. To me he's the real deal though, I tend to be pessimistic about our own players but he's proven his worth over and over and over. /u/santorfo [asked if Bruno was a one season wonder or if it was natural progression] - Natural progression, he was already carrying Sporting on his back last season, with lesser numbers because Bas Dost was still banging them in. This year [18-19] Dost has been very underwhelming and Bruno had to step up to be Sporting's main figure and he did so exceptionally. /u/PlutoIsFlat - His vision and workrate are great... His passes are really really good as well as his finishing which is (most of the times) better than our strikers' He is also great at free kicks, corners and at taking penalties He is the best player that has played for us in quite some time. I hope, for his own sake, that he goes for a bigger club this summer (but to one that plays him and not just keeps him on the bench) /u/mugiwara - It's poetry in motion to watch him /u/Konstanti9 - Bruno Fernandes is really good tho, he is carrying Sporting Lisbon more less in the same level that Bale did with Spurs. /u/1Warrior4All - Dude is a midfielder scoring 20 goals in a season and he doesn't even play in Porto or Benfica, all his teammates are shit. You can say 'that's just the portuguese league', okay but none other midfielder that I remember had such a high goal ratio in our league. He is the best midfielder I have seen in our league since Deco. If Pogba leaves he would be a great replacement. /u/saint-simon97 - Always hard to say when a player goes from Portugal to a top league. But he definitely has quality, probably the best player for us in this decade. Amazing technical quality and its a worthy investment from City. Whether he's successful or not depends on a lot of factors but I believe he can very well be. I think he's worth whatever the market can pay for him. It's worth noting we haven't been in the UCL this year, we didn't go far in Europe, we didn't challenge for the title and that affects his price tag. But I think anything from 60 to 80m would be a fair price. /u/LusoAustralian - Adrien combined with Matígol and then improved by another 50%. Best midfielder I've ever seen play for us quite possibly. /u/TunTee - I didn't see him play much in Italy but I can tell you that when he first came to Sporting there were times when he went missing while playing behind the striker. With Jesus we always played a 4-4-2 with two forwards, usually a target man like Slimani or Bas Dost and then an SS like Alan Ruiz or Teo Gutiérrez, and it took a while to really accomodate Bruno properly. I remember in the first league match of 17/18, away against Aves, we played him behind Dost and with William/Adrien as our midfield and he didn't do so well, I guess because he was so far away from the midfield and not being able to work as the connector in offensive play. He was subbed out in the second half and I think that's when JJ realized he couldn't play Bruno that far up on his own. In the next matches, he either played him as a box-to-box (Adrien went to Leicester at the end of August so it opened up a spot) or as a number 10, basically switching our tactic to something closer to a 4-2-3-1, and that's when he really started shining. Playing further back also enabled him to play facing the goal, and not the other way around, which in turn let him show us his two biggest qualities: his ability to think and orchestrate the offensive play (his long range passing and link-up play are great) and his long shots. Maybe some of the reasons why he didn't do so well in Italy are related to the way he was placed on the field, because if he played as an SS like you were saying, I wouldn't be surprised if he continuously performed like he did on that first league match. /u/gerirsporting - I love him. Please don’t leave. /u/ForcadoUALG - I don't understand the argument that you will perform worse if you have better teammates around you. Bruno is not only goals, he is so much more than that, and people failing to realize that are just those that know he scores goals and don't watch the actual games. /u/NMRT - Absolute monster. We're all blessed /u/RubberDuckRub - Well, he plays in a shit team and has really INSANE numbers, and it's not like he's scoring tap ins. Most goals scored by a midfielder in a season? I watch the guy and it's hard to say he's not world class right now. Even playing in the Portuguese League. /u/VoxelRiot - The guy is 24, has been undisputed best player in the league for 2 seasons straight, has insane numbers and has been solo carrying sporting this season. How much time and merits do you wanna him to have before being considered World Class. /u/dazano19 - one of the best players ive ever seen in our league tbh /u/madca_t - Bruno would be a fantastic signing for them [United] /u/xHyperMega - He's literally carrying Sporting for a Europa League spot /u/Setirb - Bruno Fernandes is amazing. I don't think I can remember a game where he wasn't Sporting's best player. Ronaldo mentality he just refuses to give up. This guy would be a solid addition to a lot of top clubs out there, but his temper is probably the major flaw. /u/PhillyFreezer_ - Absolutely no surprise in the Primeira Liga. Bruno Fernandes is a fucking star /u/zepedr1 - Sporting without this guy would be mid table /u/Kayle_Bot - He's such an insanely good player. We're definitely not keeping him in summer and he honestly deserves better lol /u/RubberDuckRub - Probably the best player in the last two decades (and CR7) that played for Sporting. And he's completely wasted. /u/tomasr51 - he scores he defends he assists he bangs free kicks he tells the ref to fuck off what can he not do? /u/NeuronPrusik - This season this guy is honestly carrying us more than Messi and Ronaldo carry their teams. Like it's already ridiculous and it's getting to a point where I feel a bit ashamed of how unworthy we are. /u/1Warrior4All - This guy is unbelievable. It hurts to know that the best player of the league is playing for Sporting and fighting for third place. Imagine the damage he could do at Porto or Benfica. /u/SCP4ever - Goodbye Mr Lampard /u/JFSnow - Best player in the league by a mile, right now, imo. This man has been Sporting’s life insurance. Amazing player, really. /u/LusoAustralian - Best midfielder since Deco I think is the fairest way to put it. Don't really want to compare across positions but he's been the only truly world class midfielder in our league since Deco left for Barcelona. /u/LemureTheMonkey - Hes top 1 [of players playing in Portugal in the last 20 years]. Sporting would be midtable if not for Bruno Fernandes. /u/dazano19 - He's amazing. Sporting this year is pretty weak but he always turns up. No matter if they're getting completely outplayed by Benfica at their own stadium Bruno will still drive his team forward and score /u/CradleCity - Playing with Bruno Fernandes is basically having a goal guaranteed right from the start. /u/TauIsRc - So glad you're leaving the league little shit scoring left and right, sick of Sporting having such a good player /u/8IV08 - Sporting really is him plus 10, if he leaves their season is basicaly fucked, so yeah the price is high but worth it. /u/DerpSenpai - Bruno Fernandes carries the gang to 3rd place Most scoring midfielder in Europe for a reason. Dude's insane /u/PhillyFreezer_ - He does this [the backtrack against Liverpool] almost every game on the pitch. In terms of “giving a shit” he’s in the tier 1 of world football players. Anytime Sporting are losing he’s visibly pissed and running his ass off /u/DelScipio - Man, last game he was subbed and was the remain of the game positioning the teammates like he was a coach. This guy wants to win all the time. He gives everything no matter what. /u/DelScipio - Yap, also he isnt a drama queen, that is something that big clubs must like, because star player today are a pain in the ass. We are 2 or 3 months saying the he could exit for a big team, all the press always talking about it, but when they ask him the says: ya nice, it's a dream to play PL, but if anyone wants me they have to talk with Sporting president. Then in the friendly games he plays like nothing happened, giving everything. Other players would be all the time sad, giving interviews showing that they want to exit, etc. This guy is gold. /u/DelScipio - Actually he is like this no matter what. Very impressive player and very strong mind. People always jokes saying that Bruno don't want to loose even if the game is for a couple of beans. Bruno always gives 100% no matter what. /u/Multicerebral - The perfect 8. The scoring ability of a Lampard with a way better defensive workrate! /u/ruiportugalfigo - Not a Sporting fan, but I follow the league and the NT pretty closely. Absolutely the real deal. He's started to find his feet with the NT of late, and appears to be a quality player. Wonderful long-range shooting ability, natural leadership ability, dedicated to Sporting through all of their turmoil/coaching changes/player turnover/crap. Looks a class act and a class player. /u/sonfex - Best player in the league for the last few years. He's the only reason why we finish 3rd /u/PM_ME_YOUR_WAIFUS He's good. Really fucking good. /u/PM_ME_YOUR_WAIFUS I mean he literally carries Sporting on his back so he is used to pressure /u/saint-simon97 - He's a very good player, however it's a big question mark whether he'll adapt to a)a team where he won't be the star player and b)a higher standard of football. It's not exactly uncommon to see very good players in Portugal (or basically any peripheral league) not make it in other leagues. There's the examples of Gaitan and Jackson, who were two of the best players I've seen live and they both failed to cause the same impact in a better league. /u/JFRL93 - He didn't really struggle in Italy, don't know why that keeps getting said as if it's a fact. He played for teams far from being at the top in Italy and he performed fairly well especially considering that he was a foreign player at such a young age. He's since improved massively so what he did in Italy seems short in comparison but he didn't struggle in Italy at all /u/MarquesSCP - Ok this is just too awful. Even I as a sporting fan say this. Bruno Fernandes, forget about us and leave this shit club. We don’t deserve you and you don’t deserve to be at this absolute shithole. We thank you for everything but it just pains me to see you in this team. /u/Dlurkon427 - This guy is fucking great, one of you foreign league fucks needs to buy him /u/WalterHenderson - Bruno Fernandes is surrounded by headless chicken teammates the last couple of years and has still managed to put on astronomical numbers for his team and basically single-handedly win two cups last season. 70 million would be bonkers a few years ago, in the current market is more than fair for his output. He's worth that for the club. You're ignoring every other stat and focusing on one single aspect to basically write off a player, which is just dumb. The same way you are asking me to justify that stat [pass accuracy] being lower than other players, I can ask you why no other playmaker managed to match his number of goals, or have as many assists. He might fail, he might succeed, but if anyone is worth taking the shot is him, who has proved he can put up those numbers for more than one season. If the fact that he plays in Portugal isn't enough to earn a transfer to the Premier League, I advise you to look at the likes of Jiménez, who wasn't that great here and now is scoring for fun in England. Just like there are players who do great in Portugal and then fail in the "big" leagues, there are numerous examples of players and managers who weren't that great here and are doing great in England, Spain or Germany. Our league might not be as good as those, true, but it certainly isn't for lack of ability to develop talent, we just don't have money to throw around to keep our talent and complement it, since the economic gap keeps widening. /u/JSantosPT - Sporting currently is Bruno + 10 he literally does everything in the attacking phase /u/MarquesSCP - He is way too good. We are so fucked when he leaves it’s not even funny. /u/MarquesSCP - Honestly I see the argument but imagine this guy in a team where he isn’t 90% of the attack. He will have so much more space imo. I mean when teams play vs us all they have to do is cover him and he still manages to do what he does (even if playing vs worse players). /u/LemureTheMonkey - Best player in Portugal! /u/DoctorBrolly - 65M€ straight away would be more than fair. He had two amazing seasons. Not a fan of Sporting in any way, just that very few players were that on fire in our league ever. Honestly, at Benfica or Porto he would be more expensive. And enough of ass kissing towards a player that screwed my club like 5 times last season alone. /u/TheeWarLord - Depends on the game but he rarely plays purely 10. Most of the time he plays as a secondary 8 when we have possession. When we don't have the ball he is in the front putting pressure but that has more to do with is athletic ability /u/FTNDanny1616 [replying to someone saying Bruno is an 8] - Not really, Wendel is Sporting's 8. Bruno is better closer to the goal where he can shoot and make the final pass. Having him carry the ball from the back would be a bit of a waste of his strong points. /u/XxlmeidaProject - As a Porto fan i can't find words to express how good Bruno Fernandes is. I might be a little hyped by seeing benfica get fucked 5 minutes ago but I feel it's safe to say Bruno is the best player to ever grace Portuguese soil. /u/Feeceez - This kid is literally carrying the team for ALL competitions. Without him we wouldn't be in the fight for 3rd place. We would be back in Godinho Lopes days sitting in 7th place. He's an absolute animal. Haven't seen this good of a player in our jersey for a looong time /u/BigBoiRambo - Playing against Bruno isn't even fair and I love every second of it /u/AlmeidaProject - With Bruno Fernandes going to United I really wonder what approach Sporting are going to take. Their entire offensive game revolves around Bruno. He’s the one who either creates or scores the goals, controls the tempo of the game, takes their set pieces, and is the captain. If they don’t sign anyone decent to take his place, which is very likely to happen, they are royally tucked. /u/PM_ME_YOUR_WAIFUS - He's by far the best player in the league. /u/iamMalaf - To be honest I think he can be THE player that makes United midfield click. I wish him nothing but the best. After all he was one of the best, if not the very best, to use our shirt in the last decade. Boa sorte Capitão! /u/RandomPedobear - I'm sad to see him leave, but with our current situation It was impossible to maintain Bruno. We needed the money and Bruno deserved a better club to play for. He is arguably the best player that I saw playing for sporting in this decade, we all know how good he is, however the fact that he really gave his all for this club, his professionalism is remarkable and he showed it on the pitch. Even when Sporting went to shit with all the Bruno de carvalho and academy attack stuff, he still have his everything. I really do hope he can do well at united. /u/InACoupleNutShells - I don't think a transfer ever left me as sad as this one. I will miss him a lot, best player I've ever seen play for the club of my heart. On the other hand I'm happy he finally fulfills his dream of playing in the prem. I know he will succeed You probably saw this comment from /u/Sev7n7 on this sub yesterday but here it is if you missed it - You have no idea the deal you're getting... He's way more than just a great player, he attacks and defends constantly throughout the whole game, he does sprints at the end of the game to prevent a counter attack even though we're winning by more than 1 goal, he's the first guy to show his face when things are bad, the first to push his teammates to give 200% on the pitch, he attends the youngsters games regularly, welcomes new signings to the team and helps them in whatever way they need in their daily lifes until they're settled, he lives and breathes the club he's in. A leader in every sense of the word. Best player I've seen in the club in my 30 years of life and I can't even imagine that locker room without him. But I wish him and United all the luck! And to finish things off I thought I'd chuck in some comments made by Sporting's manager, Silas - He’s the best player in the league and the most valuable since last year. He’s not worth this money, he’s worth so much more. In addition to attacking, he also sacrifices himself to defend. Bruno is the best and the most valuable. We have good players, but to find a replacement for Bruno we need three players. One that scores, one that organises and one who defends like him. Hope gospel mission menomonie wisconsin. I write this guide for a dear friend... Her: "You can't cram this exam! It's the MCAT, the biggest test of our life. " Me: "You're right, I wish I could study normally, but cramming is all I know. " Introduction ------------------------ My score: (129/129/129/132) To preface, imma go on a bit of a rant, feel free to skip, DISCLAIMER: I took the exam 1/18. My GPA is a 3. 9, my life is comfortable, and I am thankful to be in good health as of now. I rarely attend class and am very used to self-studying content, so that's what I did for the MCAT too. However, I am notoriously bad at multiple choice exams so I was honestly shocked with how well I performed. Take what I say with a grain of salt if you choose to read it. I am by no means representative of you as a person or vice versa. My philosophy: To everyone who says you can't "cram" for the MCAT: Bullshit. Cramming has gotten me through life. My definition of cramming is: using the bare minimum amount of time you need to study/practice the content successfully for the actual exam. (For normal college exams, its usually the 12-24 hour period leading up to the exam for me) When I cram, I study in dead silence and totally immerse myself in the content; there is no browsing reddit for a quick 10 minutes, checking texts/snaps, fucking around on Spotify to find the perfect playlist, or any kind of shit like that. I know plenty of people who will say "I studied really hard and long for that exam, " but what they really mean to say is that they sat in front of an open book while they scrolled through memes/Instagram for 30 minutes at a time. Cramming is PAINFUL. I dread it every time I'm about to start a session but when I'm in the thick of it, i'm in the zone. The impending doom of an exam so close to when I start studying really motivates me, it puts the pressure on hard. It's a weird rush of terror and excitement thats indescribable. You need to really accept that if you want to cram for something, instead of studying like a normal person, its gonna hurt. Its gonna be way more stressful then if you were a sane person and stretched your studying out to a 3-4 month period. When you cram, you aren't taking more work and turning it into less work, you're only condensing it into a shorter time frame. You're gonna be working just as hard as someone who studied for 12 weeks, just 4x harder in a 3 week period... seriously picture that. Additionally, if you seriously aren't getting something and are wasting too much time, you just have to move on because you don't have time to dilly dally. There's plenty of other shit that the MCAT can throw at you and, chances are, you're wasting your time focusing on a sole concept (unless its a core concept). (after reading what I wrote, it feels like something that belongs on r/Iamverysmart, but I write this with the genuine hope it will help people realize the mentality it takes to actually cram successfully) So... Pros of cramming: Terror of the exam being so close puts the fear of god in you Little need for programs like Anki or other periodic review (because the exam is so close) Brief brutal period of studying and then its over Cons of cramming If you get stuck or lose motivation at any point, its over Its pretty painful with how much work you need to do in such a short time Lack of repeated review time can lead to gaps in knowledge When I began studying, I did my research based on other peoples guides on this sub reddit and guessed it would take me about 3 weeks if I "crammed" 10-12 hours a day; I studied over winter break, all i did was study (no work/limited social interactions). I tried to use only the best resources which people collectively agreed on r/premed are great. ------------------------ THE ACTUAL GUIDE: Every day will take around 10-12 hours. CAUTION: I am assuming that anyone bold enough to embark upon this journey has taken all the recommended pre-reqs and done relatively well in those classes. (Resources used: Kaplan book set, videos, other reddit resources, and classic AAMC materials) total cost: roughly 500$ Days 1-7 are review days and are really gonna feel like a grind, but they're worth it. -------------------------------- Day 0: Understand what the MCAT is... Spend some time going over the MCAT essentials books included with the AAMC package. Its worth your time to understand how the questions are formatted and what the MCAT is testing you on. Basically... 4 sections, 90-95 min long each, C/P -> CARS -> B/B -> P/S (mostly passage based prob. ) Day 1: BIO REVIEW Read the WHOLE Kaplan Bio book and understand it. Use AK lectures for anything you are unclear on. However, really do focus on the indicated high yield chapters. Bio Kaplan book AK Lectures: () For Bio, you just need to know enough basic terminology/concepts going into the exam so that the bio passages are somewhat digestible. Background knowledge of a topic or disease is not essential, the B/B passages generally have the answers hidden in them. Most of your success in bio passages will come from being able to read the passage (graphs) and make sense of weird molecular interactions that are supposed to be confusing on a surface level but are really quite simple. Also, know renal and circulatory system physiology (that's some high-yield shit, check AK lectures for additional videos on that stuff) Day 2: Orgo Review As his name implies, The Organic Chemistry Tutor is a god at organic chem. Copy down every thing he writes. He has so many free lectures on youtube that are all amazing. This man single handedly carried me through Orgo in college and he got me through the MCAT. He made a video lecture specifically for us, bless his heart. Part 2 costs money to rent but is very much worth it. Watch these two videos and you should be good. (perhaps 1. 25x speed) Part 1: (free) Part 2: (paid) These videos really helped familiarize me with the reactions once again, but you really just sort of need to feel out organic chem questions when it comes time on the real thing. Most importantly, know the essential orgo groups (alkyl, ester, etc. ) and you will be able to make educated guesses that give you a pretty good shot at answering the questions. Day 3: GEN CHEM and BIO CHEM REVIEW Read Gen Chem Kaplan briefly. Don't spend too much time on this. Know how acids and bases work, periodic trends, half life, and your basic types of radiation. Go over Biochem Kaplan. Get a general understanding of proteins and the central dogma of bio (DNA and RNA structure). This shit matters A LOT. If you haven't already, memorize the fuck out of the amino acids and the chemistry behind them so that you can draw them in your sleep (or cram them all right before the exam and write them all out on the scratch pad during the 10 min tutorial section). There will be 5+ problems revolving around AAs on exam day. Understand Michaelis Menton Enzyme Kinetics and types of enzyme inhibitors Gen chem knowledge on the MCAT mostly focuses on acids/bases along with some other random periodic trends questions in my experience. Its not worth too much of your time. What i'm really trying to say is, KNOW YOUR AMINO ACIDS. Gen chem is important but biochem is way more important. Day 4: BIO CHEM REVIEW PART 2 and Laboratory methods Time to memorize all the metabolism stuff! (Glycolysis, krebbs cycle, electron transport chain). Use the biochem Kaplan book or whatever it takes to get the metabolism enzymes and ATP ingredients memorized by the end of the day. You should be dreaming about ATP at the end of this day. Study this document and have a good understanding of all the laboratory methods mentioned, including normal IR and NMR values. This is more important than you think: Laboratory methods is often overlooked, but many questions and passages center around them on the MCAT. Day 5: Physics and P/S part 1 Quickly review the Kaplan physics book. Know the general concepts and equations behind electric potential (circuits), work and power, fluid pressures, and lenses in the context of people with vision problems. More importantly, know how to do dimensional analysis. I got a perfect score on P/S. How? This document was my bible: Know every bolded vocab word in this doc. Watch the Khan academy videos for things you don't understand Move quickly, the first sections are heavier and will take longer to memorize. You'll naturally move quicker through the sociology sections but the sociology is probably higher yield. DO N****OT USE THE KAPLAN P/S book, it sucks. Day 6: P/S part 2 Keep studying this doc until the words are burned into your retinas (which you should know about now that its day 2 of P/S) Make sure you know all the terms by the end of the day (wether its by making flash cards, rereading the document again and again, or drawing pictures... i don't care. As long as its in your brain. ) Day 7: Finish Review THIS IS NOT A REST DAY. Go back and review content that is still fuzzy and briefly reread Kaplan Bio chapters that are high yield if you have time. You can finish early if you feel comfortable. Note: There is no CARS review in this guide. My only advice is to get good at developing an engaging voice for the passage narrator as you read in your head and to highlight sections you think are important as you read. CARS just takes practice. If you score poorly on CARS on the Diagnostic Test, than theres not much you can do in two weeks. You should reschedule and seek additional help/resources. Day 8: Diagnostic Test from AAMC Start at 8 a. m sharp. Simulate a testing environment. Don't take this one too seriously (it is easier than the other FLs) but use it to feel out how to take the exam. Use this to estimate your score: If you scored in the??? region of any section, you either ignored or misunderstood multiple core concepts for that section. Either reschedule your exam or try to understand it fast. If not, good job, use the rest of the day to really review the questions you missed, even ones you got right if you felt you guessed in any capacity. Day 9: Continue Reviewing the AAMC Diagnostic Test Identify your weakest points of understanding and watch some AK lectures, reread sections of the Kaplan books, or go over the 100pg doc. It can be a shorter day so you can unwind a bit before you take FL1 but still make it a productive one. Day 10: FL1, the first real deal Start at 8 a. Take a look at what you got wrong when you're done. Rest and go to bed. Day 11: Continue Reviewing FL1 You're gonna start to fall into sort of a pattern here. By the end of it, the MCAT should be like any normal test. The question formats and passages should come as second nature. Day 12: Complete the AAMC Section bank you feel weakest in. Treat the section banks seriously and really read why you got an answer right/wrong and even read the explanations for the wrong answers. Go back and use the review material to understand things that are still fuzzy. These section banks are the best things to study outside of the FL tests provided by AAMC. Day 13: FL 2 Hopefully you are seeing an upward trend in scores. If not, take a step back and reassess how you're taking the exam and your time allocation. Have a rough idea of where you should be at every point in the exam. Go back and reread passages from FL1 and FL2 until they make sense so that you can more quickly understand new ones on FL3 and FL4. Day 14: Review FL2 Day 15: Complete the AAMC section bank you feel weakest in Day 16: FL 3 Another Day. Another FL Day 17: Review FL3 Day 18: Complete the AAMC section bank you feel weakest in Day 19: FL 4 If you don't feel like taking FL4 by this point and you were happy with your FL3 score, don't take FL4. Use these last 3 days to chill and review. (by chill I mean only study like 6-8 hours instead) Day 20: Review FL4 Day 21: Try to actually relax Take one final look at the P/S document and Amino acids before you revel in your hard work and feel ready to crush the exam tomorrow. Do a couple more section bank questions if you want to. Maybe watch some AK lectures or Organic Chem tutor if you just want to here the soothing sounds of their voices. You got this.... Epilogue: fuck the MCAT, glad thats over with Best of luck, 788tiger Edit: Thank you for calling me crazy, it warms my heart. As others are pointing out in the comments, take an early third party diagnostic test to gauge where you're at if you have time before you do any of this. A mature movie that s satisfying without being trite. Hope gap trailer 2019. Very enjoyable drama about an couple whose marriage is strained and break up and the effects on each and their grown son. Some humour but a serious film. Performances are first class and as usual Annette Bening is outstanding. John O'Connor (Gods Own Country) also is a stand out. Hope gap 2020. Im from Australia, so I never heard of Mr Rogers, but I watched this movie lastnight and it made me wish I grew up watching his show. He seemed to be just about the most nicest, caring, kind-hearted person, from what Ive learnt about him and his show. And reached out to a lot of kids (and adults) in need, emotionally/mentally. Just like the movie shows, with the character of Lloyd. How to deal with his emotions in a good and positive way. Especially when it comes to anger. Sometimes holding on can be more harmful for ourselves, than letting go. Hope gap seaford. Hope gap to birling gap sussex map. Hope gap film. Hope gap poster. Hope gap film trailer. After viewing several so un-innovative "real stories" Red Joan, Fisherman's Friends) and "social realism" films (The Last Tree, VS - even though VS's world of rap battles was fascinating) I was getting really disappointed in British cinema. Hope Gap made up for all that. It is beautifully acted (Annette Bening is extraordinary) deep and subtle, and does carry you away. Hope gap release. Hope gap official trailer. What this post is: I have attempted to create a self-consistent history of the Island. This involves tying together many different hints given throughout the show, extras, and interviews with the writers. What I am aiming for is consistency. For somethings, I have had to make large jumps and fill in the gaps myself.  What this post isn't: This will not be exactly what the writer's intended. This is also not Lostipedia, it is not everything confirmed by the show. Rather, I have extrapolated from the clues given in the show. I have had to get creative with it. For some aspects, there is very little evidence that the version I write down here is the correct answer, and for some there is massive fan disagreement.  What is missing from this history: I have focused this history on before the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. I have also left bits that I believe are well covered by the show, where there is little ambiguity. There is no mention of the French Team, the Nigerian Plane or the Valenzetti Equation, I believe these are well covered in either the show or in The Lost Experience.  Please enjoy, and tell me if this matches what you believe happened. Pre-Mother There is an ancient protector of the Island. This person is kind, and generous and trusts people. The Protector has a small group of followers. In this group is a young “Mother. ”  A group of people come to the Island. They find the Heart of the Island and ignore the Protector. This group digs into the Heart of the Island and manage to put it out.  The Island is nearly destroyed but the Protector and her people manage to fashion the “Cork” saving the Island. The Protector and her people lose their lives doing this but manage to pass the torch on to Mother.   Mother is left alone. The new protector of the Island. Scared by what happened, she now hates humanity. “They come, they fight, they destroy, they corrupt. ” Across The Sea Mother is miserable, she both hates humanity and is insufferably lonely. When a pregnant woman comes to the Island, the chance is too perfect to miss (or was it chance at all? ) She kills Claudia and takes her babies. She is now free to raise these children away from the corruption of humanity, which she considers herself apart from.  She sees something great in one of her children. This child, the MiB, seems to have special intuition. He is special.   However, the MiB can (like Hurley in thousands of years) talk to the Whispers, the trapped souls on the Island. The MiB learns that his real mother was murdered. The MiB abandons Mother and goes to live with the other people on the Island.  The MiB is obsessed with trying to find a way off the Island. At first, his people try building rafts and boats, after all, it is how they ended up on the Island. However, none of their attempts is successful, they simply always return to the Island.  The MiB knows that the source of Mother’s magic (and his own abilities) is the Heart of the Island. He begins searching for it. After searching the entire Island, he realises that it’s location must be protected, so he begins digging for it. He and the curious men he is with dig all over the Island, looking for places where “metal behaves strangely. ” The MiB intuits a system, a big wheel, that will allow the turner to use the “light” to leave the Island.  Mother realises that the MiB is threatening the Heart of the Island, but she can’t bear to kill him. Instead, she destroys his machine and kills everyone else on the Island. Knowing what her son reaction will be, she forces Jacob to be the new Protector of the Island.  The MiB kills Mother, freeing her from her endless life of loneliness and misery. Jacob is furious, but unable to kill the MiB, throws him into the Heart of the Island. The Man in Black’s soul is ripped from his body, turning him into the Smoke Monster.  Jacob places Mother’s and the MiB’s bodies side by side in the Caves. Jacob's First People The MiB now has the ability to take the forms of the dead and scan people’s memories. He and Jacob argue about the nature of humanity.  The MiB thinks humanity is ultimately evil, Jacob disagrees. To prove the MiB wrong Jacob brings hundreds of people to the Island. The majority of these people hail from Egypt. (Note. Since Claudia and her people are clearly Roman, if the Egyptians were brought by Jacob (as his season 5 tapestry suggests) then this probably takes place between 300c BC - 200c AD when both Ancient Romans and hieroglyphs writing Egyptians are around at the same time. ) While Jacob sees this Egyptian civilisation on the Island as a chance to prove the MiB wrong, the MiB sees it as an opportunity to get people to help him leave the Island.  The MiB shows people how underground rivers have healing properties. He encourages them to dig. The people are amazed at the miracle of the healing water, they build a healing spring and then a Temple around it. He tricks these people into thinking the Smoke Monster is a manifestation of the god of death — the entity Anubis. He haunts the tunnels beneath the Temple.  Fearful of his judgement the Egyptians dig in the site of the old well and repair the old donkey wheel.  Finally, the MiB can leave. He turns the wheel. It doesn’t work. The MiB is still trapped. This is when the MiB realises that he bond to the Island by more than just geography, Mother has made it so he can’t leave. It is a rule, just like how Mother has made it that he can’t kill his brother. The only way he can leave is either if the Proctor of the Island changes the rules and lets him leave, or he shuts off the Heart of the Island.  Turning the Wheel, however, creates a massive electromagnetic event. It freezes the underground chamber, hundreds of people die with bloody noses. Because of this incident, all pregnancies result in death on the Island for the next hundred years. The people on the Island believing they are being punished by the gods build a massive statue to the Egyptian goddess of fertility Taweret. Curiously, this statue has four toes.  The Man in Black continues to haunt and torment the people on the Island. He likes to appear as a dead friend or family member and convince them to kill or hurt each other, he claims that if they do horrible deeds he can bring back those they lost from the grave. Eventually, everyone on the Island is dead.  Ab Aeterno But Jacob is still not convinced that people are at their core evil. With everyone on the Island dead Jacob moves out of the Caves and takes over the chamber under the statue as his new home. He also takes over the Lighthouse the Egyptians built and creates a system where he can use it to see things that are far away.  The Man in Black keeps pleading to Jacob to let him go. He refuses.  Jacob determined to prove the MiB wrong brings the Black Rock to the Island. The MiB at this point shows his desperation, he attempts to manipulate a slave aboard the Black Rock, Richard Albert, to kill Jacob.  It is uncertain what the Man in Black thought would happen, but his plan fails.  Did he not think Jacob would defend himself? Or was a final plea to his brother, saying how serious he was? Either way, now the MiB’s goal is to kill his brother.  The Others Richard Albert is granted enteral youth and becomes Jacob’s representative.  Jacob brings many more people to the Island. Jacob watches the ones he sees as pure and good closely. He hopes these are the ones that will finally prove his brother wrong. He makes lists of these people, and gives them out to Richard, to watch closely and to invite into their community. Fuelled by Richard’s words and his agelessness this community begins worshipping Jacob. They all hope to be chosen and be put on his lists. Noticing that some people, especially those born on the Island (which is again possible) have special abilities, the community covets them and sees them as being chosen by Jacob. They develop a “test” to determine their leader, by trying to select those who have special intuition. The 20th Century In the 1950s the US military finds its way to the Island while testing hydrogen bombs. They are killed off by Richard’s people. Based on the words of a Time Traveler they bury the Bomb.  In the 1970s, through using cleaver maths and evidence left by the US military the Dharma Initiative find the Island.  Richard becomes aware that the Dharma Initiative is attempting to dig into the Island. Richard and his people have several skirmishes with the Dharma Initiative. The leader of the Hostiles is Eloise Hawking, who rules with her partner (it’s complicated) Charles Widmore.  The Dharma Initiative and the Hostiles draw up a treaty. The Dharma Initiative agree to not dig into the Island, stay within their territory and leave the Island within 15 years. The Dharma Initiative do not keep to a single word of this truce. They capture and experiment on unsuspecting members of the Hostiles, attempting to learn about Jacob.  They drill into a pocket of Electromagnetism, which with the help of Time Travellers with a Bomb, cause a massive radioactive leak. Like in ancient times, hundreds of people die with bloody noses, and again pregnancy on the Island becomes a death sentence.  The Dharma Initiative manages to cover the entire thing in concrete. They install a system that vents safe levels of Electromagnetism every 108 minutes but left any longer than that the levels become dangerous. The Dharma Initiative also install a fail-safe system that should negate the remaining energy, but no one has the confidence to turn it, as they know the area will not be safe when they turn it. As a result of this disaster. The Dharma Initiative lose most of their funding from Ann Arbor. Realising that their truce is all but gone they begin developing chemical weapons including a wide-spreading but quickly dispersing poison gas. The Rise Of Benjamin Linus Skirmishes begin again between the Hostiles and the Dharma Initiative. A young Dharma janitor by the name of Benjamin Linus betrays his people and helps the Hostiles use the poison gas, purging the Dharma Initiative.  The leader of the Hostiles Eloise Hawking is disgusted by what her people did. She gives up her leadership and leaves Charles. She and her son Daniel leave the Island. Charles Widmore is now the leader of the Others.  Benjamin Linus discovers that Charles has been having a relationship with an outsider and even has a daughter off the Island. He uses this scandal to seize power and exile Charles off the Island.  Benjamin Linus is now the leader of the Others. He is jealous that Richard gets to talk to Jacob, and he has no contact with him. He lies to the new members of the Others claiming he was born on the Island and that his orders come directly from Jacob.  One day he follows Richard in secret. Richard is meeting Jacob in Horace’s old cabin. The building is encircled with Ash so the MiB can not enter. Ben makes a sound, seeing Richard started he panics and rushes back to camp. As he is running he scuffs the line of ash, breaking the circle.  When Richard returns to the cabin, Jacob is not there. Only a piece of tapestry stuck to the wall. A piece of tapestry with their ancient meeting place of the statue of Taweret. One of Ben's followers by the name of Ethan shoots a man in the jungle. This man tells him he was his leader and then disappears. Ethan believes that he has been shown a special vision from Jacob. He believes the Island had a special task for him, and he becomes even more devoted. Many years later he sees the same man, and he realises that Jacob had shown him a vision of the future. On September the 22nd, 2004, a plane came apart in the sky above the Island. Hope gap rotten tomatoes. Hope gap review. Hope gap east sussex. Hope gap trailer deutsch.
