The best choreography (Vasili Vainonen) of the Nutcracker! It's so organic, intelligent, pretty and goes perfectly with Tchaikovsky's beautiful music. Most other productions hurt and make me depressed and ill, frustrations and headaches for days. This is truly the best one. I also love the Kirov recording from the 90s of the same production with magical LARISSA LEZHNINA in the main female role. She truly has the Nutcracker spirit. But I also like Alina Somova. She got beautiful legs but Larissa got an amazing aura not many ballet dancers got. especially not nowdays. How much I love the choreography of the Snow Flakes and how emotionally and crisp the Mariinsky Orchestra is playing. Wow! Chills and spiritual orgasms after orgasms. Bravo. It's so sad I won't be able to watch not even one decent Nutcracker in Germany this Christmas time I believe. Maybe in Berlin at Staatsballet. But I checked and I am not convinced by the choreography. I quite liked the Patrice Bart version when incredible director Valdimir Malakhov was still there (especially when Polina Semionova or Nadja Saidakova danced as Masha/Clara. Anyone knows their current Nutcracker? Is it worth travelling to Berlin to see it? The only Nutcracker I also like and approve besides the Mariinsky one is WAYNE EAGLINGS challenging choreography performed by the ENGLISH NATIONAL BALLET LONDON (and the Dutch National Ballet Amsterdam. But at Dutch National I don't like the stage setting and story. It is a bit different than at English National.) I remember how my friend Maddie and me cried (at English National) during the 1st act Pine Forest Pas de deux performed by Daria Klimentova and Vadim Muntagirov as it was danced with such touching musical understanding and true passionate love emotions. I was also left speechless and deeply inspired for weeks after seeing mesmerising Cedric Ygnace as the prince at Dutch National's Nutcracker. His powerful but soft jumps, musicality, interpretation of the role, aura, fluidity in all movements he did on stage from entering till leaving and beauty where form another world! One of the best days of my life. Royal Ballets Nutcracker by Peter Wright got the MOST BEAUTIFUL STAGE DESIGN, SETS AND COSTUMES but I really don't like the inorganic choreography. It just doesn't flow. Let me know your thoughts on the Nutcrackers you watched and any recommendations on good Nutcrakckers to see in Germany. An inspiring one where I can take children or people to be touched, feel the rue ballet sprit magic and not bored or be turned of ballet forever. You know what I mean.
