This will likely be the last time I touch destiny 2 for a while, if ever again. I was introduced to the game around April of last year and have been entranced by the world within. We've had an intriguing war with curious alien species, beaten up some big hellspawns and met some badasses along the way. What I loved about the game was how it felt to play. You didn't juat fight alongside some seriously awesome allies, you were a badass yourself. The abilities you had, your weapons, everything felt alive and unique. Exotic weapons and different armor felt personal and immersive in this way. Destiny gave me things to look forward to when I got home from work or college. It became a big part of my life so fast. And that is why I am writing this now, to channel not only the anger I feel towards Bungie, but to grieve my loss. The destiny I've loved is gone. Below are some points that have contributed to my thoughts about the game and why I no longer wish to play. I don't except anyone reading to agree with any or all of these points. That's what makes us all unique, to see things different ways. Eververse. Starting out with a bang. Back when we heard the news about the split between Bungie and Activision, we rejoiced. Free from the shackles of tyranny, Bungie would make sure to give us a much fairer in game store. We had won against the hearts of greed. Or so we thought. I need not remind the playerbase of the changes in bright dust farming. It seemed we would have access to less every week, and yet the bright dust prices for items went up systematically. 4k bright dust for an emote? Worse still, the drop rate for bright engrams was reduced, and the items received seemed to have even less chance of anything worth noting. But worst of all, we saw a huge increase in "Silver only" items each season, and this was AFTER we bought season passes. The changes were evident, and they were obvious. I thought this and last season would show how much Bungie respected the community that has stuck with their game for so long. It wasn't. Content. I stopped playing warframe because we were promised big updates, epic story and innovative ideas to spice up gameplay. We were bogged down by so much unessecary crap (fuck kuva liches) what we really wanted got put on the backburner and ended up half assed. Now we're seeing the same thing in Destiny at an alarming rate of change. When Bungie split with Activision, Shadowkeep was apparently the last thing they had cooperated on. Season of the undying had a low reward pool as a whole, gave us one real activity and a disappointment of a special boss in the form of the undying mind. In regards to the last point, we had been lead up to fighting a giant vex entity for weeks by the game and had spent that time eagerly awaiting the fight. What we got was the same exact boss from her offensive with a different enemy type (minotaur to hydra). The buildup was not worth what we ended up getting, and the season ended with a pathetic whimper. Sundial from this season was a little better than vex offensive. It wasn't really enough for us to be honest. We got an exotic "quest" that was a three minute scavenger hunt. The biggest offense of all though, was the community puzzle, something players stumbled upon and thought change was coming. The last two puzzles we got were epic and saw the return of fan favorite weapons. What we got this time, however, was the other exotoc already spoiled by bungie's new "roadmap" they post each season. To think they thought our expectations would be so low is baffling to me. It creates a feeling Bungie is out of touch with the fans that play their game, and that point has only been reinforced over the past few weeks. Nerfs. Bungie has made a few nerfs to weapons that needed it desperately (cough cough Lord of wolves), but their newly announced nerfs for next season make little sense to me. Of course I'm talking about the changes in dps to izanagi's burden and grenade launchers to bosses. It's clear they want us to use different tactics against raid bosses to make them fresh or balanced. However, on paper most raid bosses cannot be hurt by the weapons that were bogged, shotguns and fusion rifles, because raid bosses either stomp you away or sit in a pond of acid. Therefore Bungie's "preferred" weapons don't work. I can only conclude they want raids to take longer for some unfathomable reason. To pad out their game? To create "challenge"? Just make everyone use sidearms, will ya. Hacking in crucible. It's everywhere. It's cancerous. And Bungie have done absolutely nothing to stop it. Streams of jotunn shots and ohk hunter melees are what I see often, though I've also seen aimbotting and immunity. It upsets me less people are complaining about this. It makes a whole part of the game unplayable for me. Destiny has so much wrong with it right now, and instead of fixes we're getting some of the most baffling features. Bungie has proudly announced changes that are apparently revolutionary, but only seem to reinforce the idea they have zero idea what we want. Upcoming "features" next season: A tryhard crucible game mode with light level advantages. Limits to upgrade modules on legendary weapons. Resused armor from d1. It's frustrating seeing all of this unfold. Anything Bungie says sounds so hollow. It feels like they either don't care about the experiences players are having or they just don't understand. I have tried to look the other way and hope it was just a rough patch, but the problems I'm having with the game are only getting worse and worse. It's not just the drop in content; the game is less and less fun for me to play. The game feels like it's dying sometimes. I have to get away from it.
